Pregnant College Student
|
I am currently a college sophomore. I just found out that I am pregnant and I want to keep my baby. My school doesn't have any programs or accommodations for pregnant students. Are there any government grants or programs that I can apply for so that I can stay in school?

Sunday 28th of February 2010 07:19:45 AM A VERY GOOD DECISION. I DON’T KNOW OF ANY SCHOOL THAT WILL NOT ACCEPT STUDENTS WHO ARE PREGNANT BUT ACCOMODATION IS A DIFFERENT MATTER. YES THERE ARE PROGRAMS FOR UNWED MOTHERS GIVEN BY SEVERAL PRIVATE FOUNDATIONS AND IN SOME COUNTRIES THEY GIVE ASSISTANCE TO PREGNANT STUDENTS. CHECK YOUR LOCAL REGISTRY FOR UNWED MOTHERS AS WELL AS LISTING OF FOUNDATIONS WITHIN YOUR AREA.

Monday 1st of March 2010 01:44:33 AM First of all, I want to commend you for deciding on keeping your baby. Other women who gets into this kind of situation would make a wrong decision of aborting the child, which is definitely not the solution for it all. I understand that you still want to continue with your life despite of your pregnancy. One option for you is to take a leave of absence from your university or college. That way you can still come back once you have given birth. It would mean less expenses for you. Also, you may go to any government agency which caters for women and children's welfare. They have school affiliates that can give you some assistance given your situation. The agency may also help you on how you should go about your life during and after pregnancy. They have professional social workers there that can help you for more options in your life.
I hope I was able to help you in any way. Good luck to your family life and career.
