Discoloration On My Stomach
|
I am 30 weeks pregnant and I have noticed a dark brown line on my stomach from my navel to my pubic bone. Is this normal? Should I consult my doctor?

Thursday 18th of February 2010 04:24:27 AM This is perfectly normal. The line is called the linea nigra. Basically the line indicates the division between the row of three muscles on either side of your abdomen (when built up known as the 6-pack). As the layers of fat and skin stretch, it causes a shadow to form between the abdominal muscles. Some women have a darker line than others. But not to worry the line will disappear over time after the baby is born.

Friday 19th of February 2010 10:52:43 PM Yes it is very normal. Although I did not get this line during my first pregnancy a lot of women do have this line appear on their belly. It is called the linea nigra. It is most likely caused by your changing hormones and once the baby is born this line will disappear again

Sunday 21st of February 2010 02:55:34 PM Oh, you are so cute! that line it is showing you how big your uterus is, and thus how big your baby is.A good doctor will tell you how big the pregnancy is only by measuring the line.
This line will disappear after the delivery, not very soon.I just delivered few back time ago, and I still have this line. Also the navel it is open and will become more opened and then it will be ok when the brown line will disappear too.
take care and good luck!

Monday 22nd of February 2010 02:49:17 AM This is nothing to worry about, and it will disappear after the birth. The line shows where the rectus muscle down to the center of the abdomen has begun to peel open inside so there is more space for the uterus. Mention it to your doctor if you are still worried, but it can be common during pregnancy.

Wednesday 17th of February 2010 06:09:52 PM The line you are referring to is known as the 'linea nigra' and is perfectly normal. It is caused by a surge of hormnoes - the same ones that can give you patches on your skin and cause your nipples to darken. There is nothing you can do to get rid of it. It will fade by itself after birth and women of Asian and black origin usually find that this line is more noticable.

Thursday 4th of March 2010 03:42:27 AM Those are just normal and should not worry you so much. Other people doesn't have it too but it is just okay. So it differ from one women to another. If it bothers you, there are women who takes care of it by swabbing lotion or oil daily, others just let it go as it will go back to normal when you give birth.
