Can You Use A Suffix For Your Baby If His Middle Name Is Different From His Father's?
|
My husband wants to name our son after himself. This is fine with me, except I hate his middle name. I don't mind have a junior, but I would like to use a different middle name. Can you still use a jr. suffix if the baby's middle name differs from the father's?

Monday 1st of March 2010 08:30:16 AM You have a pretty funny situation on your hands, but you can handle it. The issue with the name decision you're having to make now is that there are no strict naming conventions.
When a child has a name different from his father's, it's usually not conventional to have a suffix attached to it. Usually, the junior suffix is added when the child bears the exact same names as his father.
Hope this gives you some respite. Cheers.

Tuesday 2nd of March 2010 01:26:23 PM Yes,you can do so in fact, but as it deals with the new born baby i would initially prefer to first register withe infant's name and then move on with further proceedings.Today in this world anybody can change its name accordingly as per their preference. So there's no problem in doing so.You can do it definitely.
