Is It Tacky To Give Your Baby Place Names?
|
My husband and I are having a difficult time coming to a baby name decision that we can both agree on. The one name that keeps coming up, is Dallas. We both really like it, but I heard someone say that it sounded trashy. Is it tacky to use a place name for a baby?

Sunday 21st of February 2010 07:20:02 PM That's a matter of opinion. Ask a hundred different people and you will get lots of different answers. The important thing is that you are both happy with your choice of name and that is it. Don't be swayed too much by people who think it trashy to name kids after places. Think of Posh and Becks - they named their son Brooklyn after the place he was conceived. It's a lovely name and doesn't sound trashy.

Sunday 28th of February 2010 06:53:15 AM Your son is only named after Dallas the place if that is how you mean it. Dallas is a good strong name and doesn't have to mean Dallas, TX. No one can pass judgement on whether a name is trashy or nor because it is the individual bearing that name that decides whether or not they make ur trashy!

Sunday 28th of February 2010 06:29:42 PM What you decide to name your child is up to you. If you are truly concerned with what others may think, why not put a twist to it - Dallia or Dallisia.
That way you can still have a name that reminds you of Dallas, and it may not sound "tacky" to others.
In the end, it's up to you and your husband to choose a name you both will be pleased with.
