Petite Woman Pregnant With Twins
|
I just had my first ultrasound. I found out that I am expecting twins! I am a very petite woman. I'm afraid that I will not be able to carry my twins to term? Am I at risk for preterm labor?

Sunday 14th of February 2010 09:01:40 AM A petite woman having twins is no problem as long as her pelvic region is of a correct size. The doctor will do an examination and find out if your size is ok to have a normal birth or if you might need a C section. The external size of a woman does not play an important role in the safety of her pregnancy or in being alarmed about any risk.

Wednesday 17th of February 2010 06:36:01 AM Preterm labor is high if you have defective pregnancy. If you are normal or your OB says so then you'll carry your babies normally. Congrats by the way for the twins. Don't worry you'll gain weight when your babies grow in months. Don't worry about it your body can sustain besides your OB would also suggest you to gain more weight because there's normal weight you should get every month. You have no options but follow your OB's recommendations.

Thursday 18th of February 2010 06:54:57 AM Your risk of pre-term labour has nothing to do with your size. If you have a small pelvis, you may need an elective caesarean. A scan will confirm this. What i do suggest is to see a specialist - most women who carry twins have an additional stress on their body and rarely go to term anyway. Eat well and look after yourself and keep yourself active throughout.

Friday 19th of February 2010 09:47:32 PM I would say any woman carry twins is at risk for preterm labor. Your body will adjust itself to the fact it is pregnant of twins, your twins will grow and will make you grow accordingly. You will be closely monitored and if your obstetrician is worried or if you are worried, the best thing is to discuss the risks and options as soon as possible to put your mind at ease.

Sunday 21st of February 2010 06:26:35 AM My dear, who should have to answer that question and that fear is your doctor, but do not be afraid to be small. Women and men do not measure the feet and having a healthy and monitored fravidez the size of the mother does not influence anything. Enjoy and live in the middle of the blessing that God gave you.

Thursday 4th of March 2010 03:38:24 AM Your doctor is the best person to ask about this. But tell you what, my cousin is 5'2" in height weight about 110 lbs and gave birth to a very healthy twin babies at the age of 28 yrs. old. You see, its a matter of determination, extra care and proper nutritional foods that is needed by both you and the baby.
