I Don't Want People To Shorten Our Son's Name.
I've always loved the name Jonathan. My husband and I both agree that we like the name. The only thing is, I can't stand "Jonny" and I don't like "Jon". How can we tell people to that we prefer that he be called Jonathan?

If that is what you prefer than you should not hesitate to tell people that. However, be insistent and correct them when they shorten the name. You are in charge and your wishes should be honored and that goes for grandmas and grandpas too. Be firm it's the only way.

Always call him with their full name jonathan not any nick name and when someone in relatives or nearby try to give some short form try to tell them that what is his name .When you call him by his name many times everybody get to know by themselves that his name is Jonathan not john.

you can tell the people it clearly when they try make your son name short so you correct them by the time they speak john or jonny or whatever they try call, that will sure work, or maybe you can guys show by just call your kid as the completly name how you like and want the kid to be called... Cheers and good lucky.
