Should We Get Our Cat A Companion?
|
Our cat, Belle, has always been an "only child". With our baby's arrival just weeks away, we're afraid that she won't like sharing the spotlight. Should we get another cat to keep her company and would it be better to get a cat or a kitten if we do?

Wednesday 24th of March 2010 06:17:04 AM Hello there and there you can always find a company to your pet, its really heathy to them have a equal company sometimes, if you get to choose goes for cat, coz the same genders usualy get to strange each other since they are not familiarized, what can happens if you get another kitty is she can get even more jealous and get a hard time over the new partner, what you can do better is choose buy a cat coz she will probably see that they can live better without see each other as a intruser. good lucky.

Thursday 18th of March 2010 07:06:27 PM Let me first tell you that I am an animal behaviorist specializing in the care, maintenance and training of pet cats. An adult cat is like a two year old child and understands the language of a two year old child. Your cat should not be a problem with the baby as long as you give it attention and let him share the baby with you. By sharing I mean let her be with you when you are feeding or playing with the baby but do not forget her petting and playing time. Pretend you have a two year old child also and treat her that way. Do not ignore her or she will feel abandoned and become depressed or destructive. It is not easy but do not change your attitude toward her.

Tuesday 29th of June 2010 02:29:45 PM In this condition it becomes little difficult to handle the cat or other pets when new born come or some times it is seen that become more protective for baby or sometimes they started feeling unsecure or jealous. It is a good option that you bring a kitten or cat of other sex so for some time.
