Our Chihuahua Has Always Been Our Baby.
My husband gave me a chihuahua puppy as a wedding gift 5 years ago. She's always been treated as if she were our child. Now that there is a baby on the way, we're afraid of how she will react to a change in the amount of attention she gets. Should we start to spend a little less time with her while I'm still pregnant?

You should maintain as normal a routine as possible while introducing new smells and sounds to your pet chihuahua. A great idea is to sacrifice a blanket from the baby's room for your dog to get cozy with. Regardless, the priority here is your infant's safety. The damage a small dog's bite can do is often underestimated do to their tiny size. Never leave your baby unattended around any pet. Either secure the baby in the crib, or the pet behind closed doors when you cannot be within reach.

hello there, and there is a particular issue, I would say that you must start make her get adapte of the new reality, she will probably need to be not so around the baby or where the baby is when the abby arrives, so you must start the adaptation, you can still spending time with her, but may change the way you behave a little, do that in a graduative way so she can get used to the new things without feel that so much, dont just change like to the nigh to the day coz she will probably feel the changes so much.

You can do what you are telling or just make them meet with small babies if you know any so that they get used to that and then you try to just set them out for little time earlier it refuse to do that then get used to it. So try this in daily routine you will surely get the result

Thatīs one. Make it smell all the baby's stuff. When baby born, make sure that him get into the house before the dog. That will teach the chihuahua his position in the house (first mum and dad, then the baby and last him). And donīt allow him to clim at the bed or couch. It makes it feel powerful.
