How Far Apart Should Crib Bars Be?
|
I had a crib given to me that is a family heirloom. It is really beautiful and was used by many members of my family. I'm afraid that it wouldn't meet today's safety standards because the bars seem a little farther apart than the new cribs I've looked at. How far apart should crib bars be?

Wednesday 24th of March 2010 05:09:21 AM The safe regulations that you must follow when you gonna get a crib to use is check that the side bars of the crib can not exceed more than 60mm if distance between each bar to prevent the infant to slip the body parts between them and suffer some injuries, the side of the crab bars need to be smaller enough compared with his head size, so if they cvan slip they body parts without get it stucked on the crib bars.

Tuesday 29th of June 2010 03:15:39 AM According to the consumer product safety commission the vertical bars or slat should be no further apart than 2 or 3 to 8 inches or 60 mm , to prevent infant from slipping through or becoming stuck between it. A infants's head is comparatively bigger than all body and could get stuck between the bars that are too far apart.

Sunday 16th of May 2010 07:51:48 AM I think the family did well by giving you the crib.
Normally crib bars are not suppose to be too large, if not babies can see it as a place to pass and they fall down if they attempt which will be a big problem to you. so what i will say is that, it shouldn't be too large pass babies width.
But the one giving to you, the wholes was too large, and it is made up of metal, just send it to welders, they can reduce the rib bars.
