Champagne For Special Occasions
My husband and I have decided to wait to announce our pregnancy until I'm through the first trimester. My best friend's wedding is coming up and I am the Matron of Honor. Would it hurt my baby if I took a sip of champagne when I toasted the couple?

No, it will not hurt your baby. Only serious and excessive amounts of alcohol could have adverse effects on your baby. Having some alcohol in moderate amounts here and there through a pregnancy has not shown to harm the baby in any way. Go ahead, and enjoy your best friend's wedding.

Drinking alcohol is a no-no whilst pregnant. The best way top deal with it is to have a bottle of sparkling grape juice or a non alcoholic wine in your glass so that you dont feel left out when toasting the happy couple. Its not worth taking the risk just to 'fit in'. If your glass is pre-filled before you toast them, no one will be any wiser.

No, the sip of champagne will not harm you or the baby. I would recommend drinking the entire glass but a few sips will not hurt you. In order to cause damage to you or the baby you would have to consume large amounts of alcohol multiple times.

Moderate, a sip, a shot of alcohol is not good for the baby as this will affect your child's brain development. You can have the toast if you want too, and announce your being pregnant while drinking juice or plain water. In fact that will give them a clue as to why you are drinking juice or water during the toast and for sure it won't destroy the drama.

Better no alcohol during pregnancy that is the rule. However, I am pretty sure that one sip of champagne will not have a negative affect on the health of your baby. Just be sure that one sip doesn't turn into a few more... if it stays with one sip I am sure you and your baby should be fine. Enjoy the wedding!

definitely not.I have drunk on some special occasion, a little one and nothing happened to my kids, so a little champagne won't hurt. Do not exagerate with the noise also, the smoke and the tireness of standing for too long. It is good to participate into some events but take care of you, rest and try to avoid crouwds.
