Cooking With Alcohol
|
I love fine dining. A few of my favorite recipes have wine as one of their ingredients. Can I still use these recipes or do I have to wait until after the baby comes?

Thursday 18th of February 2010 12:50:14 PM Yes, you can still use the wine that a recipe calls for. The amount of wine that the recipe will call for will not be in excess and it will not be enough to harm you or the baby. You would have to consume large quantities of food that was made with alcohol in order to cause any damage.

Thursday 4th of March 2010 03:34:17 AM A lot of people say that a small quantity of alcohol is just okay but it has not be proven yet, or nothing that I know of. Pregnancy entails a lot of sacrifices. Anything bad for the baby should not be taken in by the mother. So might as well don't take any either drinking or included in food. Anyway, you can have all these when the baby is born, so a little sacrifice for a healthy baby is the best.

Wednesday 17th of February 2010 02:49:21 AM As far as I know if you cook with wine or any other alcohol, the cooking process will make the alcohol evaporate. Meaning the food you actually consume will not have any alcohol left in it that might be harmful for your baby. But you end up with a great tasting meal!

Thursday 18th of February 2010 06:35:35 AM Small amounts of alcohol in cooking is fine as long as you dont make a habit of it. Most of the alcohol content actually burns off during the cooking process. You could try and substitute with stock if you have any concerns, but as long as you arent consuming lots and drinking lots, you should be ok.
