Can I Get Pregnant After Bariatric Surgery.
|
I have been overweight all of my life. My husband and are have been TTC for 6 months with no success. My doctor says that I may be infertile due to my weight. If I have bariatric surgery, can I have a safe pregnancy?

Thursday 24th of June 2010 08:21:14 AM Yes you can get pregnant after bariatric surgery but normally doctor suggest to wait 18 month after this surgery as this the period when you loose the weight very fast and due to that some nutrition will also loose. If at this time you get pregnant then baby will also be deficit

Tuesday 29th of June 2010 02:03:38 AM I doubt if your bariatric surgery would hinder getting pregnant. But you have to take into consideration the length of time since your surgery. It should at least be 18 months or more before you attempt to get pregnant. This isn't about the possibility of not getting pregnant, but your body, still in post surgery, needs to get accustomed to what it underwent. Your body might or might not be able to provide you the nutrients you were receiving prior to surgery. Hence, if you get pregnant, their might be a chance that both you and your baby will be undernourished.

Does your doctor told you tht the weight is absolutely to blame for the fact you can not conceive?
yes there is some related between overweight and infertility but not always the reason of that.
