What Is The Difference Between Chorionic Villus Sampling And Amniocentesis?
I am 37 and pregnant for the first time. My doctor has suggested a couple of different tests that I may want because of my age. I want to make an informed decision, but I don't know much about them. What is the difference between chorionic villus sampling and amniosentesis?

hi there, CVS is when a neddle is used to take a simple of the placenta and the amniocentesis is when for the same procedure as the CVS you get the amniotic fluid that is inside the placenta, and these tests are tests used to check if the fetus is suffering any abnomalities. both them have high risks of a miscarriage come after the procedure but the CVS is more aceptable taking the risks compared with the amniocentesis.

CVS Is the tests in which few cells are taken from where the placenta meets the uterous. It is sdone between the 10-12 week of pregnancy. CVS helps doctor to find any genetic problems earlier than amniocentesis but the test has higher risk of miscarriage. It is an newest test than amniocentesis and not done in all areas

Amniocentesis is done by getting a sample fluid from your uterus, and this fluid will then be evaluated. And about the CVC or chorionic villus sampling, is done by getting a sample of your placenta with the use of a thin tube or needle. Both seems necessary nowadays to evaluate the baby for any abnormalities.
