What Is The Nuchal Translucency Test?
|
I am 33 and I am pregnant with my third baby. My children are 13 and 9. There have been a lot of new tests that have been developed since my last pregnancy. My OB offered me a nuchal translucency test. How does a nuchal translucency test work and what does it determine?

Friday 18th of June 2010 12:45:08 AM Since your doctor offered you a nuchal translucency test or nuchal fold test, I estimate that you're in the early stages of pregnancy typically from eleven to fourteen weeks. It's painless and is like an ultrasound that can tell the gestation age of the baby and if they are at risk (but will not really diagnose it) of some abnormality like Down Syndrome. This test will just measure the "clear space" at the back of the baby's head, that they say can tell whether there is a risk of having abnormalities or not.

Wednesday 23rd of June 2010 11:57:43 PM The measurement taken from fluid behind the baby's neck at about 10- 12 gestation. IN Ultrascreen , it is combined with the blood test from the mother to determine the risk of genetic defect or heart problem .This is to check whether the baby is healthy or not. Just not to worry
