If You Have Gestational Diabetes With One Pregnancy Will You Have It With All Pregnancies?
|
I had gestational diabetes with my first son's pregnancy. I was able to control it with a strict diet and never had to take insulin. I just found out that I am pregnant again and was wondering if I had gestational diabetes with one pregnancy, will I have it during all my pregnancies?

Lori Monday 8th of February 2010 04:59:05 PM Gestational diabetes occurs in a small number of pregnancies. Because you had it before does not mean you wil have each time you are pregnant. The main thing is drinks lots of water and do some kind of exercise. Your chances are good for not repeating.

Monday 8th of February 2010 07:10:12 PM You can prevent gestational diabetes from recurring to your next pregnancies by having a very strict diet, healthy and exercise a lot...chances can decrease up to 70% of you having again gestational diabetes. Anyway, keep it always under the doctor`s supervision. You are not the first woman to face this problem, and many have overcome this and never had to face it again. Be strong and don`t give up to the miracle of having a second baby. Just fight for him a little bit and God will help you.:)Say NO to fast-food.

Thursday 18th of March 2010 05:00:57 AM hello there dear, after you had presented it once , your chances of performing a new episody in the future gestations are higher than for who never had it before, but sure if you start to follow a diet already and take care like your doctor must advise you, you have plenty great chances of does not have it again.

Tuesday 22nd of June 2010 12:16:05 AM This is not necessary that if you had in first pregnancy then in all pregnancy you are going to have the same gestational diabetes as there is on 5% chance for this but if you control your diet as you said there will be no problem check your weight daily , dont take carbohydrates , check your sugar level regularly. All the best

Thursday 24th of June 2010 06:36:20 AM Actually not that sure, but it depends on your diet. Once you have controlled what you have eaten, I think you will not have diabetes, but once you have uncontrolled diet you can have it even when you are no longer pregnant. It happened to me, when I was pregnant I had gestational diabetes, but I never had insulin since I have controlled my diet. But now that am no longer pregnant, I had diabetes. Better see a doctor in your case.
