I'm Scared Of Having An Epesiotomy.
I'm due in 3 weeks and I'm starting to really get frightened of delivery. My biggest fear is of an epesiotomy. If I have to have one, do they use anything to numb the area or do they just make the cut?

hello there, and don't worry dear mom, if you need it they probably will perfome the medical procedure using the help of a local anesthesy, as long as they are going to cut part of your vulva, sure they would not do that just step on a cold blood. so there is no point of being scared of it. Cheers.

IN epesiotomy doctor first always numb the place and then only make a cut and this is not necessary that doctor has to cut it .It is only done when baby head is too big or when the baby is in the position of breech means when buttock and feet comes first then there is a problem in delivery.

Hi and congratulations :) Based on the tone of your question, you really are afraid of episiotomy, well you isn't? Just thinking of it gives me chills. But you don't have to worry about the pain during the procedure of episiotomy - if you'll be needing one, since it is done with the use of a local anesthesia. So you won't feel any pain.

Of course they don`t just make the cut. They will shot you with an anesthetic first...midwives are not butchers, stop thinking about terrible things and think positive, that everything will be smooth, and the staff around you will HELP you deliver more easily. It`s up to you not to panic, to be good and follow as they say. You may have your first child but they are not amateurs and they know what they are doing.
