Am I At Risk For Incompetent Cervix?
|
When I gave birth to my first child he was 9 pounds 9 ounces. His birth was quite difficult and I ended up with 4th degree tearing. Now I'm 10 weeks pregnant and I'm afraid that my first birth might have done some permanent damage to my cervix. Am I at risk for incompetent cervix, how can I tell?

Monday 28th of June 2010 02:10:22 AM Don't worry too much. You can never access your situation alone. Having a 4th degree tearing doesn't automatically place you as candidate for incompetent cervix. And just to make you feel safe about your pregnancy, why not set a doctor's appointment to see if you are at risk of having incompetent cervix. Incompetent cervix usually occurs to women whom had previous cervical or uterine conditions. If you do have signs of heaviness in the abdomen and you feel uneasy about it because it doesn't go away. I suggest you seek medical help as soon as possible.

Wednesday 10th of February 2010 08:26:28 AM First of all, YOU cannot tell. Only the gynecologist can. Second, if you are already pregnant, there is nothing to do with your cervix right now...only after birth , if the doctor notices that you have a damaged cervix, will perform a colposcopy and then take the right measures. A PAP test is absolutely necessary.

Wednesday 17th of March 2010 09:58:51 AM hello there dear, I don't think you run the risk as long as your doctor has not related any problems at that oint to you, the incompetent cervix is more likely to happen when you have passed to a cervical trauma before, if you have suffered of cone biopsy and after repared of later- term abortions. So the best way to find out what are your risks are asking directly to your doctor, good lucky.
