I'm Using Brethine To Stop Preterm Labor.
I am 34 weeks and 2 days. This morning I started having hard contractions, so I went to the hospital. They confirmed that I was in labor and gave me 3 shots of brethine. They kept me for observation for 3 hours and then sent me home with brethine pills. I have to take a dose every 4 hours. I'm not having any contractions now, but I am still cramping. Is the brethine working right if I am still having cramps?

Brethine is good medicine for hard contraction in pregnancy .It stops the contraction but have some side effects also like dizziness, headache ,drowsiness, heartburn, fast heart rate , nausea, vomiting, elevate blood pressure, anxiety , restlessness, chest pain, lethargy and muscle cramping..so it could be the side effect which stop by itself after sometime.

hello there, and sorry for hear that you experienced, but the brethine probably is working still, coz it is a drug that help you dont have contractions the cramps are not a signal of labor contractions, but are signal that maybe if you stop to take the brethine you will get the spontaneous labor job, so the best thing to do is keep taking the medication like it were prescribed to you and seek your doctor opinion in that time as well, coz that drug is not indicated to be taking for a long term except when the doctor prescribe you too.

I think the brethine is working since you went to the hospital and they decide to to give it to you to take and they observe you for 3 hours and said you should go home, that means they believe the brethine was working well that is why they allow you to go with the hope of the brethine thy use to observe you.
