Condom Use And Conception
|
My partner and I have been using condoms for contraception. My period is usually very regular, but as of today, I am one day late for my period. I took a home pregnancy test and it was negative. Could I still be pregnant? How long should I wait before I take another test?

Monday 15th of February 2010 01:28:14 AM It will take 5 weeks for the HCG levels in your urine to be able to be detected by a urine test, if you are pregnant. Testing now can give you a false negative. During my pregnancy, I tested negative two weeks after sex. however another two and a half weeks later, I tested again because I wasn't convinced that I wasn't pregnant. This time I was positive.

Monday 15th of February 2010 01:16:33 AM I would say that, if you still haven't had your period in a week or two, it would be wise to take another test. Give your body a little time though, sometimes there are other reasons why your period could be late, for example, stress. Often if you are under stress that you could be pregnant, your period is delayed due this stress. If your pregnancy test is still negative after the two weeks, it may be wise to consult your doctor. If you are worried about falling pregnant, perhaps it would be better to use a more reliable method of contraception, rather than the condom. There are many options available.

Wednesday 17th of February 2010 02:13:17 AM Yes you could be pregant. To be 100% sure you are pregnant your are best getting a blood test done. If that one is negative you are definitely not pregnant. If you want to try another home pregnancy test, try again in a few days (if your period hasnt started by itself) as the hormone levels might have been too low to detect the 1st time around. Good luck!

Wednesday 17th of February 2010 03:56:53 PM The first day you miss your period is a rule of thumb for most doctors when to take a pregnancy test, because the test is looking for a certain hormone in your urine that being pregnant produces. Home tests are about 97% accurate, so you could still be pregnant going by those slim odds. You could try another test in a few days, or you can always visit your doctor for a blood test.

Thursday 18th of February 2010 03:50:40 PM you should make another test after a week time. There are some good tests which are showing pregnancy in early stage, but not always it is shown.
I experienced this to my second pregnancy.the first one was negative, although I was pregnant.
But it is not necessary to be the same for you too.
take another one, to be more relaxed about this matter.

Wednesday 3rd of March 2010 05:06:30 AM One day delay in your regular menstruation is quite early to be alarmed. Regular menstruation doesn't actually mean on the exact date of menstrual cycle, it is within the time frame so to speak. However, just to let you know whether you are pregnant or not, try the home pregnancy test on 12th day from your so called date of supposed to have the menstruation.
