Can I File For Short Term Disability For Maternity Leave?
My employer doesn't offer and maternity benefits. You can take sick time if you have enough. I only have enough to cover 2 weeks and I can't afford 4 weeks without pay. Can I apply for short term disability for maternity leave, and if I can, can I take the full 12 weeks that I am entitled to?

Yes, as long as you were advise by your ob gyne to file temporary leave you must do so. Please bear in mind that it is the baby that you are protecting so you must take the best action that you think can shield your baby. I suggest you ask medical certificate to you doctor about your situation, and submit it to your boss. He is just human to not approve it, though.

I will advice that you file up the short term because you cannot afford 4 weeks without pay. It may affect you and your family as well as the baby you are carrying. But if you go back to work, make sure you don't do heavy work in order to cause harm to your health. And as you know a pregnant woman always need rest.
