Dieting During Pregnancy
|
I have been following a very strict low calorie diet for weight loss purposes. Now that I am pregnant, is there a way to safely adjust my diet without gaining a lot of weight?

Monday 15th of February 2010 01:20:51 AM Just choose the kinds of food you will eat. there is nothing so bad about keeping a low calorie diet. As long as you are getting the right kind of nutrients that your body and your baby need, you are good to go. Stay away from the bad foods and just keep to your usual diet.
Although, it is very important to talk to your doctor about anything to do with your diet.

Wednesday 17th of February 2010 01:47:11 AM Being pregnant means gaining weight, there is no way around it. It can be done on a healthy way by making sure you eat lots of fruit and vegetables, fish, rice or pasta. I would seek advice from your midwife or even a nutritionist as they could probably give your more information regarding essential nutrients you should not skip from your diet in order to be sure your developing baby gets what it needs.

Wednesday 17th of February 2010 05:35:35 PM The best way to eat during pregnancy is by eating whole foods such as fresh fruit and veg, pulses, wholegrains and protein. You should continue drinking lots of water, although you should avoid caffiene and sugary drinks. Infact, avoiding junk food and processed food is the best way of keeping your weight in check. Eat whenever you feel hungry and cook foods with little fat. Although you are not eating for two (this is a myth!) you should not be dieting during pregnancy as it can deplete your body of essential fats and vitamins that your growing baby needs. Its far better to eat what you like as long as its not too sugary or fattening. Eat in moderation and walk as much as you can. Looking after your body and your baby is more important than the way you look. And in any case, dieting can cause low birth weight and exhaustion.

Wednesday 24th of February 2010 03:57:42 PM I am sorry to tell you but now even you want even you don't want you will gain a lot of weight. It is not only due to dieting but the hormons in you.those hormons beside other things make you to retain water in your body so day by day you become bigger.
Child has his kilos , uterus, placenta, amniotic liquid, so all of these hill 'help' to be bigger.
don't worry, you will become like again in no time

Tuesday 16th of February 2010 08:34:46 PM As long as you take your daily vitamins and milk high in folic acid your diet should be enough. But of course itfs still different if the minerals you take is from high protein food. Remember what you take is also taken by your child. Carbohydrates, proteins and other minerals helps in your babyfs body development. You can still be in shape anyway but refrain with food high in saturated fats.

Wednesday 3rd of March 2010 04:04:42 AM Generally speaking pregnancy is a delicate situation both for the mother and the baby. The concern basically during pregnancy is the nutrition intake. The less nutrition you get the less nutrition your baby gets. The lesser weight you have the lesser weight your baby gets, what's more there is an issue of a having a healthy baby. Pregnancy is not the time to think about weight lost, figure etc, the focus should always be directed to the unborn child.
