Panicking About Birth And Delivery.
I have started panicking about labor and delivery already. With three weeks to go, I'm trying to brainstorm up some ways to relax in the delivery room. I took lamaze and my room will have a birthing tub in it. What else can I do to help relax in the delivery room?

You can make your delivery room as comfortable as you want to make it a peaceful and a place that will inspire you trust to relax, try read magazines that will make you feel relaxed before your labor, you can meditate as well, get a radio to set up a list of songs to relax and make the room be completly like a place that you feel completly connected as well.

The relaxation of labor, however, is not a relaxed stated of mind, it is a relaxed state of muscles. The ability to release tension from the muscles decreases stress levels, lowers the blood pressure, and increases the effectiveness of all other labor-coping skills. It is a skill to learn not only for labor, but for a lifetime. Mastered, it will reduce the risks for heart attacks and strokes. Add some music as well to relax you.

Begin practicing simple meditation techniques now. I practiced focusing on relaxing my body whenever I felt stressed or anything hurt for about a month before delivery and it really helped. The hard part about relaxing in the delivery room is that everything you feel will be new and a surprise. I tried to prepare for the intensity of labor by holding an ice cube in my hand for as long as I could. While holding it, I tried different relaxing and coping techniques, and I knew which ones worked for me because sometimes I could hold the ice cube much longer than others. I also had a stone that I carried with me everywhere and would take out and rub - that was relaxing and worked to help me focus while I was giving birth to my daughter.
