I Can't Wait For My First Pregnancy Ultrasound!
My doctor says he is going to perform a pregnancy ultrasound at my appointment this afternoon. I am 8 weeks along today. What can I expect to see? Will I see my baby's heartbeat at this pregnancy ultrasound?

You will be able to see your baby, but because it is still early you will only see little stumps where the legs and arms are. As for the heartbeat, you will be able to see it and possible hear it too. Some mothers hear the baby's heartbeat at 8 weeks but it's normal to hear it after 10 to 12 weeks. The doctor might not even attempt to hear the heartbeat yet.

hello there, and congrats for your pregnancy, and the first ultrasound is absolutely the most excited time ever during the pregnancy, we usualy want to get to see everything in that time, and yes around 8 weeks or sooner you can detect the heartbeats of your baby in a ultrasound.

Yes, the baby's heartbeat will be detected already. Her other internal organs may also be seen but quite vaguely. Her human shape may be developing already but of course it's not yet that complete. The baby is quite really small at this point. Maybe the baby is more or less thumb size. But there are movements already, and you would be excited for your baby to grow once you see him or her.
