When I found out that I was pregnant, I immediately quit smoking. My husband hasn't had and success in quitting. What are the effects of secondhand smoke to an unborn baby?

Tuesday 16th of February 2010 08:04:08 PM Second hand smoke affects the babyfs brain development. Itfs nicotine! Think about it, itfs even dangerous for older people how much more with a baby that is so vulnerable. I smoked and my husband too but when we found out wefre having a baby, we immediately smoke as we agreed. Give your husband nicotine patches instead.

Sunday 14th of February 2010 07:55:41 AM Passive smoking or second hand smoke is as bad as smoking. It can cause a number of problems including premature delivery, low birth weight baby, miscarriage, impact on the lungs of the baby, lower immunity of the baby. The fact is that the smoke you inhale will directly go to your baby and cause abnormal heart rate and many such problems. Its advisable not to take such a risk!

Tuesday 16th of February 2010 10:41:25 PM Secondhand smoke is no good to anybody, but it is difficult to stop overnight.
In a mothers case it is usually a bit easier as you know what is growing in your body and you can physically feel the changes in you. For your husband it might me a bit more of a struggle. If not successful right away then at least ask your husband to be so considerate not to smoke in front of you, but may be go outside for a smoke.

Monday 1st of March 2010 02:06:31 PM When a mother inhales secondhand smoke you are practically giving your unborn child the same toxic chemicals she inhales. Secondhand smoke can cause mutations in the baby's chromosomes. This is genetic damage that can lead to diseases such as cancer. Would you like to have an early cancer for your baby? Try to convince you husband for the sake of your unborn child.
