I Need Some Relief From My Pregnancy Heartburn.
|
I have never had indigestion before, but now I am suffering daily from pregnancy heartburn. I only have 7 weeks left before my due date, but this burning is making it feel like an eternity. I have tried antacids and watching what I eat, but it doesn't seem to be helping. Is there anything else I can do to decrease this pregnancy heartburn?

Wednesday 3rd of March 2010 02:40:37 PM It is not uncommon for pregnant women to experience varying degrees of heartburn. heartburn tends to be more common at the unset and also in 3rd trimester as the uterus expands and puts pressure on stomach. Eating blend foods...no caffeine, no tomato based products, no spicy foods help and drinking lots of milk. If these remedies are not enough try over the counter medicines like tums and other anti-acids. Make sure you eat small frequent meals and no food past 5-6pm. keep head of bed elevated by using double pillows. Wait to go to bed at least 3 hours after eating. other remedies which helped me with my heartburn was eating lots of ice-cream.
If symptoms persist talk to your physician for prescription drugs.

Sunday 7th of March 2010 05:43:48 AM heartburn is due to overeating and weight gain for pregnant women. You may try relaxing and practice proper breathing exercise. It is better to eat 6 times a day than 3 big meals a day. That way, your digestive system will not be overworked by the voluminous food you take in.

Sunday 7th of March 2010 06:42:10 PM unfortunatly, there is very little you can do - your baby will be pushing your stomach up and this forces acid into your food pipe giving you heartburn. Eat small, frequent meals, and have cold milk when you get an attack. Gaviscon can be prescribed by the Dr and really does help as does avoiding spicy and greasy food.
