Coffee And Pregnancy
|
I always start my day with two cups of coffee and occasionally take a couple of cups more during the day. Is this bad for my pregnancy? What effects could this have on my baby?

Monday 15th of February 2010 12:45:10 AM It has always been a pregnancy to-do to avoid caffeine in any form possible. However, newer studies suggest that you can, in fact, take a small amount of caffeine in the form of coffee.
Coffee intake is a huge issue in the pregnancy world on how much is allowable without harming the baby. I took coffee twice a day before getting pregnant and just to be on the safe side, I stopped all forms of caffeine altogether.
It never hurts to be a little bit on the sure side of things.

Monday 15th of February 2010 12:37:45 AM Two to three cups of coffee should not be a problem according to various studies. However, its advisable not to exceed more than three cups. The basic reason why coffee may become a problem is because it has vasoconstrictor effects which may cause your blood vessels to become narrow and increase your blood pressure. So moderation is the key!

Sunday 14th of February 2010 09:19:07 AM I would say if you stop drinking coffee it is always going to be better for the health of your baby. There has been some recent research that indicated that heavy coffee drinking has a effect on possible miscarriages in early pregnancy. To stop drinking coffee might be difficult in the beginning but probably worthwhile at the end when you have your healthy baby in your arms!

Tuesday 16th of February 2010 05:35:53 AM There is no scientific explanation of whether or not it's bad for your baby but most doctors would advise that too much coffee is bad for your kid. Caffeine is good but too much in your body is bad. Remember the saying that 'too much of anything is bad' so whether its good stuff you're taking in but you're taking it in excessively it's still bad.

Monday 1st of March 2010 01:54:08 PM Caffeine in general is not good for the baby. There are various studies made on this that doesn't really prove so much however, should you decide to lessen intake and opt to be on the caution side, then that would be best for your baby. But then its not just coffee that has caffeine. Tea, softdrinks, chocolates and even some headache and cold medicines has caffeine which may want to be aware too.
