Can i take some laxatives to relieve my chronic constipation problem during pregnancy. Are they safe? Can anyone suggest one? Is there any natural food i can eat to help get over it? I have tried green vegetables but no use.

DONT TAKE ANYTHING UNLESS YOUR DOCTOR SAY SO. TRY FIBER-RICH FOODS, A LOT OF FRUITS MORE ON PAPAYA AND PINEAPPLE ACTUALLY AND LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER. YOU MAY ALSO ASK YOUR DOCTOR IF YOU COULD ADD TO AMONG YOUR VITAMINS OTHER FOOD SUPPLEMENT RICH IN FIBER BUT LESS IN IRON.

You should be drinking 2 litres of water a day, eating lots of fruit, veg and high fibre breads and cereals to get things moving. If it gets really bad, soak a handful of dried apricots in orange juice overnight and have on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. Your Dr can prescribe laxatives if things don't improve, or you can try fybogel from the pharmacist.

try to eat more cereals, also fruits are well taken by the body for its fibers so try to consume more stuff like this. Constipation in pregnancy is well known and a lot of women suffer from it. Try to consume one full mouth of olive oil, in the morning on an empty stomach. It could help a little. At least it did help me.

There are many important things you can do to relieve some of your symptoms. Drink a lot of water. That is really important. Increase your fiber intake. Try beans. I like refried beans, they are easy to mix in with other foods. The only laxative that is safe to take during pregnancy is a stool softener, make sure there are not any other chemical laxatives added.

What about prunes and prune juice? They helped me alot. Also magnesia, if you can stand the liquid, but the solid block is cheap and the pharmacies and is better because it is chalky. Magnesia is safe and did not affect me negatively at all. And it is cheap, so you cannot lose.
