|
I am suppose to undergo cervix cone biopsy. I am one month pregnant. Will this effect my pregnancy in any ways? Does this biopsy reduce miscarriage risk during pregnancy ? Are there any serious issues with this biopsy?

I don't want to hurt or afraid you. but would like to inform you that this may miscarriage your pregnancy or might be if you want to undergo with this problem & wanna to give birth then you child will be a pre mature which caused some abnormality in any terms of his/ her health.
Secondly kindly refer your doctor in order to ensure the best method to solve this problem As they are many other preventions like freezing of abnormal cells & tissues or laser therapies but they all effect your pregnancy.

Sunday 7th of March 2010 01:27:57 AM Cervix cone biopsy will never affect you in anyway neither the baby. The doctor will remove a tissue, a very minor surgery in the cervix. However, there is also a tendency of having an early birth and the risk of low birthweight. But in general there is only a very small percentage of risk during pregnancy.

Monday 22nd of February 2010 07:34:04 PM This type of biopsy involves removing cells around the cervix and is used to check for cancers. In late pregnancy, it can trigger labour or miscarriage, although the risk of this is very low. Most women who have this done while pregnant are not harmed, and go on to deliver healthy babies. Discuss with your Ob as soon as possible to get the full details, but rest assured it is more important that you are checked than to be left as is.

Sunday 7th of March 2010 06:51:04 AM If I were you, I'd ask for a second opinion. If they are looking for signs of HPV, your cervix will still be there after the baby has come.
The cervix is what is holding your baby in, a cone biopsy could compromise the cervix, therefore putting you at risk for premature labor, and other things. Get a second opinion from someone you trust. Ask them if it were wife, partner, or self if they would do the procedure. Make sure you get answers to every question, and that the physician explains everything to your understanding. Ask them why it is imperative that they do the biopsy now as opposed to after the baby is born. MAKE THEM ANSWER YOUR QUESTIONS (one statement that has worked for me is "pretend you are taking to a 4 year-old).
I don't know your insurance status, but if you are on medicaid, you've got to be persestant. My OB assumed I was just a stupid kid using they system. After I confronted him with my knowledge, he backed off. you are the mother here, ultiamtely it is in your hands. Godspeed
