Birthing Center Vs. Hospital
I am in the care of an independent obstetrician. He asked me where I would like to have my delivery. I have my choice between a birthing center and an hospital. I have set up appointments for tours at both places, but I was wondering what the difference is (beyond atmosphere)?

Birthing centers are good with your independent obstetrician. But Hospitals are much better than birthing centers because hospitals are complete with the facilities. In case of emergency, the hospitals have many doctors to assist your obstetrician in case she/he needs help. Hospitals have a complete facilities compared to birthing centers.

Hospital has all kind of sickness though the delivery rooms are entirely separate, clean and safe for the mother and the baby. The birthing center is basically for people like you. No other sickness for that matter. Everyone just come to have their baby delivered but fully equipped similar to any other hospital.

As my knowledge the birth center is the one specialized only in giving birth and the protecting the babies , the hospitals have more other duties, to say so. I gave birth into a birthing center, and I was very content, although the sounds of the women on the moment of delivery made me crazy. My room was very close to the delivery room so I have heard a lot!

The main difference is that with a hospital, you have medical teams on hand should anything go wrong or if you needed a C-section. Birthing centres only have midwives and an ob on hand to guide you and give you support - its a more relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Should you need assistance or a section, you would have to be moved to a surgical unit which would be in a hospital. Make sure you have lots of questions to ask both places before making a choice.

There is a little difference between a birthing center and a hospital. In the birthing center all workers are only concerned with pregnant women before, during and after birth while in the hospital, it is concerned with any kinds of sickness. Regarding the atmosphere, a room in the the birthing center is just the same in a hospital.
