Sunday 14th of February 2010 04:00:21 AM It's a myth that if you're pregnant and an eclipse happen it will likely leave your baby undeveloped but this is not really true. I remember that I was 7 months pregnant when a solar eclipse happen but it didn't really bother me. Now I have a healthy baby girl and she's now five years old. Imagine if this is true how many pregnant women will have to suffer in the world just because of the eclipse. This is not true so don't worry

Sunday 14th of February 2010 08:40:12 AM I would find it very strange if these eclipses had a direct effect on anybody's pregnancy. I think these are more stories than proven facts. Assuming all is going well in your pregnancy now I would not be too worried about it. Have you asked your midwife this question? Good luck with the pregnancy and birth of your baby!

Wednesday 17th of February 2010 05:52:10 AM Being superstitious can only have a change in the nervous system and yes it can affect the fetus, because the baby feels everything that the mother feels. In ancient times it was believed in many pagan stories and one is on the changes of the moon. In my opinion, let the phases of the moon to tell stories and make the best of my pregnancy.

Wednesday 17th of February 2010 05:52:39 AM There are a lot of myths about solar eclipse and its effects on pregnancy. However, there are no scientiic proofs regarding this and many feel that they are just old wive's tales and myths. However, Hindus and Indians in general do believe that just like the eyes have to be protected from looking at a solar eclipse directly even a pregnant woman should not go out into the open during this period.

Monday 1st of March 2010 08:02:15 AM It'a myth. Solar eclipse is a movement of the moon and the sun on the same frequency. Pregnancy is having a baby in your womb. How do you think will this affect your being pregnant? But I’d tell you something that is logical for me. When the weather is hot, humid, cold or whatever – notice the change on how you feel. And during solar eclipse it gets dark as the moon and the sun moved at the same phase. And pregnant women are sensitive to these changes.

Tuesday 16th of February 2010 10:57:30 AM This is fun to hear that you are worrying for unrealistic superstitions. If you tell that to your doctor, she'd laugh as well. There's no basis that eclipse can affect your baby's health or any defects. You shouldn't believe those. As long as you have monthly prenatal and your OB said you and your baby are perfectly fine then you are fine. I am assuming this is your first baby? Anyways, those superstition was made up to scare pregnant women to look at eclipse due to risk of falling down in stairs or windows, that's what my grandma said. But really, there's no scientific proof that eclipse affects pregnancy.
