Planned C-section And Tubal Ligation
|
I am almost positive that after this pregnancy, I don't want to have any more children. I am going to be having a planned c-section. Can the doctor perform a tubal ligation while I am already in surgery or will I have to wait until later? Can I change mind the day of my c-section?

Friday 19th of February 2010 06:14:26 PM Tubal ligation can easily be performed after a c-section and only takes a few minutes. Recovery is easier as well, since you will recover in the same time as you would the section. You need to make your request known to your ob in good time so that this request can be added to your notes. If you do change your mind, you will need to tell the surgeon before they give you the section.

Sunday 28th of February 2010 01:41:42 AM Yes you can have both and the same time. I actually had my C-section first, immediately followed by my tubal ligation.
Since your doctor will no doubt follow your wishes, the only drawback of changing your mind at the last minute may present a few inconviences for the surgery team who have already prepared for two procedures in contrast to one.

Monday 1st of March 2010 04:17:45 PM If you talk with your doctor, he can prepare to do a tubal ligation at the time of your c-section. Most doctors will not perform this procedure unless you plan it in advance. You can also usually change your mind on the day of your delivery, but make sure to warn your doctor. He may be unwilling to schedule the tubal unless you are really sure.

Saturday 6th of March 2010 06:35:55 AM I had my tubal ligation during birth and it's c-section too. Yes you can do this at the same time, in fact most doctors prefer it this way for their patient. Healing goes one time. And you can also change your mind until the moment before the scheduled c-section. It's your own decision and not the doctor or your husband.
