17 And Expecting
|
I just turned 17 and I found out that I am going to have a baby. I have heard that there are added risks for teenage mothers, but no one has ever gone into specifics. What are these risks? Who might be affected, my baby or me?

Saturday 6th of March 2010 06:32:50 AM You are still a teenager therefore you have done a lot of things normal to being a teenagers such as smoking, alcohol and others. Teenage pregnancy poses a great risk as compared to adults because of you still do not belong to the maternal group, so they say. Risks may be premature labor, anemia, high blood pressure others brought about by what you had before.

Friday 19th of February 2010 06:06:01 PM The chances of having stillbirths and deliveing prematurely are higher in mothers under the age of 20. Premeture babies are born with more chances of long term problems and disabilities. There are social, emotional and financial problems for teen mothers as well, and these can have an impact on your lifestyle and on the upbringing of your child. It is always advisable to have a good support system in place such as your family for help and support. And of course the same goes for the baby's father.

Monday 1st of March 2010 04:21:18 AM Getting pregnant at 17 is not a good idea.First of all it should be a legitimate pregnancy. A woman's body gets ready for pregnancy only after the age of 21, before that the pelvic bones are not fully developed to bear the pregnancy. And the foetus may not have enough space to grow. So it is risky for both, mother and baby. If you are big built, and have confidence in bringing up a , just go ahead .child

Monday 1st of March 2010 07:37:22 AM You don't need to worry about the issue at hand, others have gone through it before you and have survived.
Teenage pregnancy has a few associated risks but I'd advise you seek some prenatal care as soon as you can. This will help you avoid some trouble with you or the baby as your weeks proceed. You'll need to adjust your food intake and the kind of activities you indulge in, e.g smoking.
