Does Positional Plagiocephaly Lead To Mental Retardation?

My son is 9 months old and the back of his skull is very flat. I’m sure it’s due to him sleeping on his back all the time but my older children have never had it this severe. Will it correct itself or should I have it checked by a specialist?
