How Dangerous Is An Innocent Heart Murmur?

My son had a fever and in a routine check-up the GP noticed a heart murmur. He referred us to a paediatric cardiologist. After a few check-ups and scans he came to the conclusion that it’s an innocent murmur and is not really serious. I want to know if I can completely ignore the situation now or should I still be on the watch for something to develop?
