If My Child Is Continuously Ignoring Me Does He Have A Disorder Or Is It Normal?
There are times my son simply doesn’t listen to me. I have to repeat myself a number of times before I can get his attention. He’s generally a very good boy. Does he have a disorder or is it normal for children to behave like that?

There are times when a child will ignore their parent, particularly if they are engrossed in something else, or if they know that there will be no consequences. However, it is possible that there could be hearing problems, caused either by environmental factors such as passive smoking or loud music on headphones, or other medical conditions. It could simply be that the TV is on too loud! It would probably be best to investigate these possibilities, and the situations in which he is most likely not to hear you. But if none of these issues are a factor, it may simply be that he doesn't take it too seriously, on a subconscious level, that you are calling him. In this case, a short mild punishment, such as being sent to his room for a few minutes if you have to call him more than three times, may encourage him to be more alert to the sound of your voice!
