Is The Naughty Corner The Best Way To Counter A Temper Tantrum?

My son is 3 and extremely hot-tempered. He tends to lose his calm in the mall and the park and starts to scream and shout in the most embarrassing way. I have tried to tell him that I will put him in the naughty corner when we get home but it doesn’t stop him. Does anyone have any valuable advice?
