Hiring A Doula

I am interested in hiring a doula. My husband and I would both like a little extra support during our labor. Where would I be able to find a reliable doula? What is a reasonable rate for a doula's services?

Your midwife will be able to put you in touch with organisations that hire out doulas, or you could search the web. Hiring a doula can be expensive - anywhere upto $1000 is perfectly normal. They are not medically trained, although will have alot of experince behind them. Try your local childbirth classes and check the noticeboard as doulas do hire out their services like this too.

Finding a reliable doula is talking to their client first and nurses at the hospital you are supposed to check in. Referrals will prove how reliable, efficient and well train a doula is. It is very hard to just get a doula from any agencies without having to know about her. And when you inquire ask them the rates they paid so you'll have an idea as it varies.

The next time you see your doctor you can ask him to give you the names of a few doulas. If he/she doesn't know of any, there are usually doulas based programs at the hospital. Doulas can go from $250 - $1500. The average is usually from $500 - $750. Although beware, if you don't get a doulas from the hospital, that it is not required in Canada and the US for doulas to be certified. Whereas if a doulas is certified you can be sure they have the proper training to assist you in your pregnancy.

Many Agencies are working in different parts of the part......... Mostly in USA & Europe the trend for hiring Doula & Baby sitters goes up & up as both of the parents were working. So to keep informative, about their upcoming child & to have a informational, emotional support during pregnancy & labor... This part of the region also dont have a joint family system as South Asian or middle east or like most parts of the african continent have. So for this the parents prefer to hv some kind of Doula service. who supports & guide them.
The Price range may vary acccording to different agencies & may also differ in countries because of having different currencies & economies may possessed by the respective countries... But the range is between USD 15 .... USD 23 per hour basis....
