Tingling Hands
I am 34 weeks along and have been experiencing tingling and numbness in my hands. It seems to be getting worse as the weeks go by. Could this be pregnancy related, and if so, will it go away after I deliver?

This is definitely pregnancy related and caused by your baby pressing on nerves in your back that cause the tingling and numbness. This will hopefully disappear after the baby is born. You may also notice swelling in your hands as well as pain, and this can be an indication of carpel tunnel syndrome. A Dr will confirm this, and treatment should not be necessary unless it persists long after delivery.

I have been pregnant eight times. I have always experienced a certain amount of tingling and numbness. The baby tends to press on certain nerves which leads to the numbness and tingling. It is one of the joys of pregnancies! After you deliver, it may still take one or two weeks before all the numbness goes away, longer if there are complications or you have a c-section. After that, check with your doctor about your concerns.

it's not uncommon for pregnant women to develop carpal tunnel syndrome...a condition caused by inflammation and swelling in the space in the wrist where the median nerve and arteries travel (carpal tunnel)symptoms usually manifest with bilateral hand numbness in the first three fingers and when severe there may be weakness. These symptoms typically resolve after delivery. If symptoms persist after delivery or if weakness develops pre- or post delivery seek immediate help from your physician

It's actually part of those irritating and inconveniences of being pregnant. I've never heard of any studies on this but I guess it's caused by fluid retention. Or perhaps you need extra dosages of vitamin B. But there is already pain and it persist you have to let your obstetrician knows about this.
