How Many Cesarean's Can A Woman Have
|
I have had 3 c-sections. I am considering having another baby. I am wondering if there is a limit to the number of pregnancies with c-sections a woman can have before it becomes unsafe?

Monday 15th of February 2010 04:39:15 AM Traditionally, three is the maximum amount of C-sections women are allowed by the doctor. However, recently there are doctors out there that allow women to get about 5 C-sections. But with issues like this, it is best to discuss it with your doctor. Your doctor would be be nothing but weary of you and your baby's safety so taking his or her advice is crucial.

Saturday 6th of March 2010 05:26:59 AM My sister has three children all delivered via c-sections. She is very healthy in spite of being a workaholic. I never heard her doctor telling her to stop as it might endangered her life. Perhaps it depend on the health condition. Why not ask your doctor if it's alright for you to conceive again.

Friday 19th of February 2010 05:21:45 PM As a general rule of thumb, women are usually told to stop at three children, although a very small percentage of women go onto have 4 or even 5 children - it all depends on your body and how well you heal. There is only so much stretching and healing your uterus can do. Seek advice from an Obstetrician who will check through your previous history and then decide if you are able to have another baby.

Friday 26th of February 2010 05:42:16 PM I am sure the doctor told you that the number of safe c-section is about 2, 3 the most.I have a relative that had 3 but the most people I knnow have only 2 kids with c-section.
it is very dangerous for you and also for the kid.You can always have a perineal break so could become fatal.
Take care!

Monday 1st of March 2010 01:58:05 AM The most that you can have with C-section is 3 pregnancies. It is because as time goes by, with your every pregnancy, your skin gets stretched and the lining of your uterus is getting thinner. As you know, CS requires several stitches and it takes time to heal. Some may have their wound healed by 10 months but you are not yet sure that you are really healed inside. Stitches for CS are in layers so you must be careful not to cause more stretching due to pregnancy because your skin might rapture and it could be risky. But there are women who can last up to 5 pregnancies for C-section. It is pointed to the elasticity of their skin which is also relevant to the Mother's age.
