Pain At Previous Incision Scar
|
I had a cesarean section with my first pregnancy. I am pregnant again and now that I am in my second trimester, I am having pain around my old scar. Should I be worried? Is it going to tear? Is there anything that I can do to ease the discomfort?

Friday 19th of February 2010 05:19:07 PM Unfortuntaly, there isn't much you can do about the pain, although if it gets very bad, you need to see your Ob straight away. The pain is caused by stretching around the old scar. Some discomfort is normal, although there should never be sharp pain. I myself had the same problem in my second preganancy, but the Dr checked me out and I was ok. A hot wheat bag or a hot water bottle can help ease the pain.

Sunday 28th of February 2010 01:19:35 AM I experienced the same thing. The best advice is to let your physican keep an eye on it. Stretching from your growing belly could be causing stress on your scar, but I highly doubt if it will tear.
To ease the discomfort, gently rub Pure Olive Oil on it - this keeps the scar moisturized and eases some of the pain, as well as placing a cool compress indirectly on the area (i.e. over your undergarments).
I've also found that when the pain was at its worst, laying down semi-inclined with my legs slightly raised took some of the pressure off of the scar.

Monday 1st of March 2010 04:10:55 PM I had a baby after my C-section, and I experienced a lot of discomfort at times around the old incision. I think this is very natural and to be expected. I had a lot of faith in my doctor, who performed the cesarean as well as delivered my next child. Pain is certainly to be expected, but as long as there are no other complications I wouldn't worry too much. Watch out for sharp, piercing pain and consult your doctor if you are concerned.

Saturday 6th of March 2010 05:21:57 AM I've heard from a friend about this and according to her this is just normal The reason is because of the uterus that is getting bigger as you go to your pregnancy. No it is not going to tear as it healed already. Mention it to your doctor too.
