I know that certain fish have higher concentrations of mercury in them. I love seafood and fish is a pretty regular part of my diet. Which types of fish should I avoid? Is it safe to eat sushi?

Grouper, Marlin, Tilefish, Swordfish, Shark, and Mackerel are some of the fish that have high mercury content. Oftentimes they use tuna and sharks in sushi which the first could be eaten very moderately while the second is definitely no. You can eat sushi at least once a month but not over 6-oz if you want your baby to have a good development.

As advised by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) pregnant females should avoid eating shark, swordfish, king mackerel or tilefish, to eat up to 12 ounces per week of canned light tuna, salmon, pollock, catfish; and check local advisories about the safety of fish in the locality

Do not eat raw fish at all - it isnt safe and the fish can contain bacteria harmful to your baby. Use fish that is as fresh as possible, preferably caught in fresh water to avoid the risk. Stick to no more than 12oz of low mercury fish a week. For more information on the types of fish allowed and serving sizes, see: http://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancyhealth/fishmercury.htm

If you don't consuming fresh you can eat any kind of fish.Fish are essential when you are pregnant, and also for your kid is beneficial to eat a lot of fish. The omega3 is very important for their neuronal system. The fish with the most omega3 is the salmon , red salmon.so you need to consume lots of it. As about sushi I would not recommend for you.You can easily take a lot of bacterias from a fresh meat.stay away for now!

Some are in favor of eating fish and seafood during pregnancy and who is not. All depend on how you feel pregnant. If you do not feel any altração consuming fish and seafood, so there's no way to eat them, because only benefit the baby.
