Should We Get Tested For Cystic Fibrosis Before We Ttc?

My mother has a cystic fibrosis, but no one on my husband's side has ever presented with it. We are wanting to start trying for a baby, but I'm nervous about passing on a dangerous gene. Should my husband and I be tested for the cystic fibrosis gene before we start trying to conceive?
