Rough Housing With My Children
I have two young boys. I have tried to explain to them that I am pregnant and that I can't play rough like I used to. I don't know how to make them understand. Can horseplay hurt my baby?

Not really - your baby is well supported by amniotic fluid and cushioned by an extra layer of fat. As long as you are not doing anything that will mean blows to the stomach or any chance of you falling or hurting yourself, you should be ok. And use your judgement - if it doesn't feel right, stop because it probably isn't. Listen to your body.

I will advice you not to do it! Ask your partner to keep your place in doing such things. it is better to do smooth moves , do not lift weight, not even your kids which could be heavy. It depends on the month you are now, but every months has its own risks. Take care and good luck!

Depending on the type of game. Of course it will not put their children to jump on the belly. Of course you must avoid rough play to prevent any fatal accident and you can play with them by giving them a lesson in motherhood. Why not pick up the dolls and pretend play doctor? So they will have more sense than the mother may be going on.

Good day. I can understand your dilemma cause my wife experienced this after our first child and I believe you can handle this too. I do understand that you're really a friend to them so talk to them to understand with you. As regards the 'rough play' they love, I suggest you don't totally take the play time away from them all at once, just gradually reduce the intensity as you talk with them. Horseplay with the boys wouldn't hurt the baby, but this depends on how many weeks pregnant you are. I believe you can talk to the boys and they'll further understand as they see the physical signs of increase around your abdomen by the day. I hope this helps.

Of course it’ll hurt the baby. I could just imagine how rough your boys are as compared to my own little boy. It’s really fun doing it and your boys must really miss it so much. Explain it to them using any toy with a big tummy try to demonstrate what happen to the baby when you do horseplay. They’ll understand and if you don’t let them understand you might have a little problem on relationship when the baby comes out.
