Which Doctor Should I Call
|
It seems like no matter what my problem may be (from skin rashes to bladder infections) my family doctor always consults my OB. Should I just start calling my OB from the start and save my money?

Sunday 28th of February 2010 01:04:20 AM It might be wise to just that. Since your family doctor is not trained to take care of the special needs your OB would, he or she is just taking precautions and ensuring that you get the correct answers and services you need.
Next time, go straight to the source - your OB - and get the answers to your questions.

Sunday 28th of February 2010 06:00:38 AM Our family doctor did the same thing. While you are pregnant doctors have a " blame the baby" system where they think that every little problem is due to the pregnancy. Most often than not, the problem is baby related. You would be saving slot of money and time if you just went to your OB first.

Friday 19th of February 2010 09:01:21 AM If this is the standard port of call for your Dr, then perhaps the best thing to do is to go striaght to your Ob instead. This way it saves you the hassle of going to your Dr first, only then to be transferred to your Ob. It will also mean you are in the best possible hands.

Saturday 6th of March 2010 04:47:04 AM Family doctors is a not a specialist of any disease but can deter any and all diseases. The reason why your family doctor check with your obstetrician is two folds: professional ethics and just confirming his diagnosis from a specialist point of view. I would suggest since pregnancy is the obstetrician’s specialty might as well go there directly.
