Stomach Flu During Pregnancy
|
I have been terribly sick with the stomach flu for two days. I haven't been able to keep anything down. I am afraid that this is hurting my baby. How much longer should I wait before I call my doctor?

Friday 19th of February 2010 08:47:42 AM You should really see your Dr as soon as possible as flu can cause lots of problems for you and your baby. Never self medicate though - you should see a pharmcist if you cannot get to a Dr, and it is always better to err on the side of caution.

Wednesday 24th of February 2010 04:06:33 PM If you did not have any feaver it is not a danger.if the flu is more then 3 days then it is something to worry about.
for now take a good rest try to eat something easy and gentle food, and then you will need some consistent food. Also take fluids too, puking makes you to deshydratate

Sunday 28th of February 2010 05:51:38 AM You should call your doctor right away. The further you are in your pregnancy the more nutrients and sustenance the baby takes from you. If you aren't able to keep anything down you should at least be taking your prenatal vitamins as they will help you somewhat. The more nourishment your baby takes from you while you have very little to give is not only harmful for the baby but also for yourself.

Saturday 6th of March 2010 04:38:19 AM My thoughts about pregnancy is that when something is wrong and it continuously goes wrong or severely went wrong beyond 24 hours I immediately consult my doctor. The point here is this, pregnancy is a delicate and a serious thing. Whatever happens to the mother is likely going to happen to the baby, so why take the risk.

Monday 1st of March 2010 05:55:01 AM The stomach flu virus does not have any impact on the baby because it stays within the digestive tract. The biggest concern for women with the stomach flu during pregnancy is the risk of severe dehydration, which can affect the baby.So in order to avoid dehydration you should have lots of fluids,if diarrhoea or vomiting is severe then you should visit the doctor, Sip small amounts of clear liquids or suck on ice chips if vomiting is still a problem.start introducing semi solids and solids only after you feel you can retain them
Get plenty of rest.
