I'm Not Gaining Weight
I am more than 6 months along and I haven't gained any weight. I have been eating everything that I am supposed to. My doctor says that I should have gained at least 15 pounds by now. Should I be worried that it is affecting my baby?

If you are sure that you are eating well and this is your first pregnancy, you dont have anything to worry about. Myself personally, I didnt start showing until I was almost 7 months, and then there was no stopping me! No-one belived i was pregnant, i didnt even have a rounded tummy. The last trimester is when you start gaining, as long as scans show that everything is fine, there is nothing to worry about.

The best way to know if you should be worried is to go by the growth of your baby. Your doctor should do a scan to determine whether your baby's growth coincides with it's term. Perhaps you also need to look at your energy expenditure. You may be eating WHAT you should, but are you eating the correct amounts to match the amount of calories you burn in a day.

I am sure the baby is fine.Maybe he is growing inside but you have lost some pounds from your body. I had a friend that in firsts 3 months has lost 1,5 pounds and only after that period started to put some weight on her. Did you ask the doctor if the baby is fine, how are his/her sizes.I am sure he did all the measurements. take care!

A probable cause for that may be if you have occasional nauseous feeling and vomitting. Some women do not gain weight even if they are pregnant especially when they also binge after eating. But there are also genetical factors into your situation. There are women who just don't gain much weight. And when they give birth, their baby may not be that big. But doctors would tell you that it is easier to let the baby grow bigger outside than have it grow much bigger inside - it could even cause more risks. But it is wiser for you to consult your doctor if there are other unnoticed complications causing your not gaining weight.

Yes you do need to be worried if you have not gained weight after 6 months of pregnancy as this can indicate that your child is not growing. Increase in weight during pregnancy indicates the growth of the child. It is advisable that you go for a ultrasonography and check the growth status of your child.

You should really be worried, not that I would like to scare you but the thing is your original weight plus the baby growing inside you that ought to give you an extra pound or so. Your doctor should have been worried about this. Didn’t she gave you anything or have you gone into some tests or whatever? Why not ask or suggest an ultra sound?
