Is Sun Exposure Bad For Babies If You Use Sunscreen?
|
My husband and I have always been outdoorsy. Now we have 3 month old baby and we're wondering if we are going to modify our lifestyle a bit. Is sun exposure bad for babies even if you use sunscreen?

Tuesday 2nd of March 2010 08:27:04 AM You want to use waterproof sunscreen with the highest SPF available. As long as you cover the little one from head to tail, especially the head and face, you should be safe. If you want some extra protection, sun hats are really good.
Babies need sun exposure so they can metabolize vitamin D, which is very important for strong bones and teeth.
If you are still worried, talk to your OB and find out what sunscreen he/she recommends. Just make sure that you re-apply he sunscreen after water exposure. Good luck, and take care...
