Is Hiring A Sleep Trainer Worth The Investment?

I'm just about willing to try anything at this point to get my baby to sleep through the night. He is almost 7 months old and he doesn't even sleep for 4 consecutive hours, much less 8. My husband and I are running on empty. My mom said she knows someone who is a professional sleep trainer. Are professional sleep trainers worth the investment?
