My Daughter's Ear Has Started Draining.

My daughter is being treated for an ear infection with antibiotics. She's been on medication for over 48 hours. Today when she woke up from her nap, her pillow was wet from her ear draining. I've never heard of this happening before. Is an ear draining liquid during an infection normal?
