Can I Put Cereal In His Formula?

My baby is having trouble sleeping through the night. My sister said that she used to but some cereal into her daughter's bottle and she would sleep better. Can I put cereal in my son's formula?

This has been practiced by many mothers and grandmothers for genenerations - since the thought is that the cereal will make the baby fuller, and a fuller stomach means a more content baby who will sleep throughout the night.
Physicians on the other hand will discourage this. Since babies do not have the ability to properly swallow cereal, they can aspirate cereal placed in the formula, with dire consequences.
Instead, try other things like soothing music, a warm bath with lavender scented baby wash, or massaging baby with lavender scented body oil or lotion to relax him and help him sleep better.
